GoodReads Review

This was an okay preview of Marvel’s newest Star Wars series’, including a few pages of four new titles: Skywalker Strikes, Darth Vader, Princess Leia, and Kanan: The Last Padawan.

I think the problem was the previews were too short to really get into the action, and a fifth series was avertised on the back cover (Star Wars: Lando #1), but was not featured. This was a bit of a disappointment, since as I have said many times, Lando Calrissian is a vastly underdeveloped character with enormous potential.

Just sayin’.

This special edition Issue was put out during Barnes and Noble’s summer Pop Culture giveaways. I took my kids by, and grabbed a copy for my honey, who is a major Star Wars fanboy, and is now involved in the development of the X-Wing Fleet game. But, as most things in print that come into my house, I knew it was only a matter of time before I read it as well.

I do like that they are developing Star Wars Rebels with Kanan. For a while I had wondered how it would work, since Rebels occurs right before Episode IV: A New Hope (or classic Star Wars, for us old fogeys). Seems like more than just a suspension of disbelief is going into the timeline for this, adding to the chance that Rebels may last longer than the Clone Wars, and be farther reaching than what we have come to expect.

But as for this Issue, I didn’t find anything in it to hold me, or make me come back for more (not like the introduction of Sana Solo). I am going to read more of these titles (I bought a number of them, retail, at the store, dammit), but having read this, I can’t say I’m all that inspired.
