A reading for my class, “Justice“, discusses the moral choices we are faced with every day, and in rare situations.

Libertarianism is thethird chapter of the book, Justice (above). The issue of what is proper distribution of funds – such as taxes – is looked at, with a strong argument by Novick against incurred taxation. According to Novick, “Taxation of earnings from labor is on a par with forced labor.” He reasons that taxation is a form of slavery.

Novick provides a strong argument by talking basketball. In many ways, he is correct in his thinking, but there is one major flaw that I noticed in his arguments – the assumption that everyone starts off on the same financial level. Do you agree or disagree with Novick?
