Utilitarianism – Part 3
A reading for my class, “Justice“, discusses the moral choices we are faced with every day, and in rare situations.
Utilitarianism is the second chapter of the book, Justice (above). This installment of Utilitarianism discusses the differences of opinion between Bentham’s utilitarianism model and Mill’s model. Mill believed that a man that followed Bentham’s model exclusively was no better than a pig or a fool.
This chapter wraps up by describing the final act of usefulness that Bentham provided for in his will, and his lasting resting place. (I’ll say this of it – his choice was highly unusual!)
To read Utilitarianism for yourself, click here. It’s in PDF, so you can download it and read a little at a time. I’ll wait. Or you can purchase the entire book, Justice, by clicking here. I also welcome you to post your thoughts below so we can discuss this further!
